MSD 8366 vs 8560?
 

Anyone here used the new 8366 in a 502 MPI? What about the 8560? http://www.msdignition.com/mari_6.htm Any pros or cons? The 8366 looks like its the way to go, plug and play on the EFI motor.

I'm really not sure what they could do for the EFI motor, advance is set by the ecu, so nothing is tunable. Might just want to buy a good cap and rotor and your done. I just got a new distributor off of e-bay for 69 bucks plus shipping, had a new coil, module, cap, and rotor. Works like a dream and even has the little screens in the vent holes.

The ignition module on the ready-to-run distributor is below the breaker plate and is not field serviceable.

The 8366 has a oem style ignition module, have you looked at it?

I saw no difference going from a oem dist to the 8366 on my mpi motor and I'm running signifigantly more power and fuel thru it than stock. My original one was 4 years old and looking kinda green,the msd lasted 2 seasons before it rotted apart internally and I'm running fresh water! I stuck the original one back in last season and its still working,just got the msd back from having it rebuilt,I'm going to run it because original might give up the ghost soon but if your looking for a performance gain and your original one is still working good/looking good don't waste your money,Smitty

My stock one just died at 10 yrs old and I found a good deal on a brand new 8366 for only $227 delivered. I have a 1996 27' Fountain with a 502 MPI, M3sc ProCharger,headwork, roller cam, CMI's etc. Do you run the MSD igniton box?

I'm running a msd 6btm and adapter harness. I was running msd's hei coil too,it burned up last season(loose coil wire allowed it to arc and short out) and I put a stock auto parts store one on to get it running again and runs the same,Smitty
On a mpi motor if your msd box quits you can just unplug everything and plug it in stock and you won't be stranded,just a tidbit of obvious info people overlook.
