Mercruiser Water Pump

Doing a Alpha to Bravo conversion so my water pump is now engine mounted. It seems to me that the water inlet should be at the top and the outlet would be at the bottom? Is this correct? Sorry to bother you with such a stupid question but these hoses are kind of hard to get to.
Thanks,
Ned

It should be labled on the back of the housing what is inlet and outlet depending on your rotation.....or unhook the hose coming out of your inner transom assembly and shove a garden hose init and turn the engine on....if it sucks the water right down then its hooked up right...if its bubbling out like crazy then reverse the hoses... :)

Not necessarily.
If it's the older style (no fuel pump attachment), you can rotate it on the bracket to any orientation. Check the back cover. It will be labeled for inlet, outlet.

If it is the old bronze one like mine rotate it so the the drain plug is down, like mentioned above the back plate is marked for the engines rotation.
