Re: Gates Belts

The numbers on Gates and Napa belts are nearly the same except for or prefix or ending #. Either Napa or O'reily's(for Gates) can pretty much get you whatever sizes you need if you have the belt number.

Re: Gates Belts

I believe the numbering is related to the belt length for Dayco, NAPA, and Gates. I use the 17 series as they are a little thicker, 15's are smaller. The last numbers are the belt length...Pretty sure it's Metric.

Anyone need a 12-rib

Part # on belt DB6701-12

other info on belt "MADE IN CANADA 268 BC 65-0"

This belt came from ATI with M3 purchased years ago, never installed, as it was either too long or too short for my installation.

Just resent it to the address above.

Green stripe is the top of the line belt, correct?

Thanks!

Michael,

Sorry, not sure what happened to the first email.

As for the Gates "Green Stripe", it is a very good quality belt, but was designed for the lawn and garden industry.

I can ship these direct to you from Gates Rubber.

6740 Gates (8423-6740) 3/8" Top width V-Belt (7/32" overall height) 40 inch outside circumference $ 5.69 each

6732 Gates 98423-6732) 3/8" Top width V-Belt 97/32" overall height) 32 inch outside circumference $4.90 each

The above belts are thin compared to a lot of belts because they are designed to bend back and forth around idler pulleys etc.

If you are running these on your boat, you may actually have the Gates "3V" series belts. Same 3/8" top width, but a lot deeper belt. Belts pull on the sides, so the deeper the belt, the more surface contact you have on the side of the belt to the pulley, which means it will transmit more horsepower with less chance of slippage.

3VX326 Gates 3/8 Top width x 32.6 inch outside circumference $ 5.37 each
3VX400 Gates 3/8 Top width x 40.0 inch outside circumference $ 6.12 each

Let me know if you would like for me to ship either style to you, or if you have any other questions.

I am looking for top of the line (green stripe?) Gates belts in 3/8ths diameter. Trouble is I need rare lengths;

40 inches
&

32.5” to 32 5/8ths

Pretty anxious to find these, need at least 2 of each.
