Could not find the thread..
About the Oil Pressure switch that will cut the ignition or fuel if the oil pressure drops too low.
It had a name I can't remember, Thought someone suggested Mcmaster Carr as a source. Anyone remember thread? |

Re: Could not find the thread..
I bought mine at summit racing for 16.00. It works great,I lost a pick up tube off my pump two weeks ago and it saved my engine.Best 16.00 dollars I've ever spent.

www.summitracing.com Thanks Nordic95 Was it a holley piece? Remember what they called it? |
Re: Could not find the thread..
It was a Holly piece.I think it was in the carb section of the link.It has 1/8 pipe thread and three wire connections. You can use it as a normally open or normally closed circuit interrupt.I taped it into my hot coil wire to trigger the relay I wired into my electric fuel pumps. When alarm sound for low oil pressure pump shuts off and gives me a few seconds to come off plane while carb bowl emptys, then shuts off.I dont like the idea of shutting ignition off automatically because I may not be in a safe situation to just shut down.

Re: Could not find the thread..
I too had it rigged to fuel pumps in my last boat, but things happen so fast at rpm that I was thinking ignition may shut it down faster preventing more damage if something goes wrong.

Re: Could not find the thread..
Do you remember what they are called? I have tried several key words and scrolled though 60 pages of holley stuff, Can't find them.

Re: Could not find the thread..
Thanks, Ordered them. Man, you would think keywords Holley, fuel/oil pressure relay switch would have brough that up!
Any further thoughts out there regarding using it as a ignition cut off vs. a fuel cut off? |
Re: Could not find the thread..
Hobbs switch.
Sierra makes a "marine" version. Not sure there's a difference, but that's who I bought mine through. BTW, It's not designed to save your engine. It's designed to prevent fuel from an electric pump from flooding your engine compartment with gas if the engine stops. ie, a stuck float. Gary |
