bravo spacers and max worx bravo drives
I was heading to races in st claire, Mi fri with my boat to watch. At the last minute I decided to install my new bravo 1" spacer that I ordered this week because my boat gained no positive effects plus negative driving quirks from installing a stellings ext box setting drive back 1' and up 1". Guess what, after draining oil from drive and seperating upper from lower I realized that because of the bottom piece max worx uses to locate and hold their steel tower in upper a off the shelf drive spacer will not fit unless you have it custom machined  . Just posting this as a heads up for anyone else that ever needs to do this, nothing better than buying a part, ripping a assembly apart to install it then putting it back together without the new part,it isn't anybodys fault, just one of them things you run into with aftermarket parts, just venting,Smitty

As you said, thats just one of those things you cant anticipate without having prior experience. Thats good information to keep in storage.
