(another) CARB question: 650 Holley
When throttling to plane out both motors bog (seems to me as if floods for a moment) out at about 2200 rpms and then jump and take off and run fine through the rest of the rpms ranges.
I was told the power valves need to be replaced.... Does this sound accurate? Do they need to be replaced or is there a way I can "tune" them? Thanks motors: small block 383's holley 650 carbs |
Re: (another) CARB question: 650 Holley
It could be accelerator pumps are not working properly. They are on the bottom of the bowls. Press down on the lever and look down the carb for fuel squirting out. This should happen whenever the throttle is advanced. Is the carb stock?

Re: (another) CARB question: 650 Holley
Carbs not stock carbs, it appears as if plenty of fuel sprays out when lever pressed as well.....

Re: (another) CARB question: 650 Holley
Replace The Power Valves Is A Good Idea.

Re: (another) CARB question: 650 Holley
There is also a plastic cam eccentric that moves the accelerator lever. They have different contours for a more precise acceleration and if not set-up correctly could possibly cause your problem. Just another option, good luck.

Re: (another) CARB question: 650 Holley
The power valves, if it has them and they still work,, may not be the proper opening values. Also do the carburetors have manual or vacuum secondaries?
