Re: uneven boat

I'd say you either have a "soft, flexing" hull or there is a trim problem. Like the chick says to an old guy like me--"Get it up, Dude"! --- Jer

As posted above maybe check you hull for damage/soft spots.

The leaning just started tonight? Only when running?Then......

Tabs..... are you sure they are both working? Tab position indicators?

At rest...... double check your load.

Re: uneven boat

by your photo it looks like its leaning to the drivers(stbd) side.

my checkmate does that also and i have seen a couple others that look like that....dont know why. let me know if you find out!

Re: uneven boat

Not sure what Check you have but most 7' beam boats will list to the port side slightly. But it should not have happened "all the sudden".

Re: uneven boat

There wasn't a strong wind from that side, was there?

jpclear 08-03-2006 08:12 PM

Re: uneven boat

Sudden wind gust can do that with the 7' beam boats but it corrects easily and I don't think this is a narrow beam hull so I would suspect a soft spot in the last 4' of the port side planing surface. And you will probably not see any evidence by looking under at the hull surface. You need a marine surveyor with the proper tools and knowledge to check the hull and stringers in that area. --- Jer

Re: uneven boat

i have dug all around the boat this morning and cant find a soft spot anywhiere everything looks very solid
i spent four hours looking and im a contractor so i know when things are getting soft or not
so not sure where to turn to now but thanks for all the help

With the winds we get up here in Lake Michigan my 38foot Cig will lean alot with a heavy wind. I need to drop a tab 2 or 3 notches sometimes to straighten it out.

Have you had the boat out again with the different weather?

MArk

mboger 08-04-2006 01:33 PM

Re: uneven boat

it wasnt the wind either i was all over the lake and it only leaned to the port side
i have had the boat for three seasons now so i have been in it in all kinds of weather
just confusing to me now

MrCIG 08-04-2006 03:10 PM

Re: uneven boat

Is that a single engine boat?

If it is you may want to check the little fin behind the prop if that got turned or is missing that may cause your propblem also.

Good luck,
Mark

Re: uneven boat

i think everyone is mis-understanding the actual issue.

these boats are just leaning while sitting in place anchored, floating or at idle. so wind could be an issue but i have it completely ruled out. its definately not wind. wieght distribution of some kind is most likely the issue but where and why?
tabs and outdrive shouldnt be the issue because it is that way while not in gear or in any sort of current such as a river etc.

hope this is clear, just want to go inthe right direction.
thanks
kevin

it is a single engine but the fin has never been on the outdrive and has always been fine

mine when sitting is acutally lower on the starboard sind but when under power it goes to the port
its worse when trim is down and lower rpms
when i open it up and trim it all the way up some of it comes out but still leans

Re: uneven boat

So it was a ' while running' problem, not an 'at rest' problem you have been conserned with????

Good to hear all is good. And simple too!
