Big Block Circulating Water Pump

1 Attachment(s)
Today my circulating water pump started to drip from a hole under it. (Picture). The engine has not closed cooling.

Is there something I can do, or do I need to replace it?

Can I use a automotive pump or does it have to be a marine one?

If any, what are the difference between them?

Thanks

You need to replace that pump. The internal seal is bad and will only get worse. I would use a marine pump. The difference is the marine pump had a stainless impeller and backing plate.

My question is, why not just put a cross over on instead of using another circulating pump?

Happened to mine as well 1968 corvette 427 pump. changed one on my small block years ago with a corvette small block pump also a 68. Both have run fine and fit perfect with no problems
