gear ratios

Are the lowers in xr, xz bravos the same?
Are the gear ratios 1.5 and 1.36 made in the lower or the upper? or is it a combnation of gear sets in the upper and lower that give you your ratio?

Here is a link to a page of Mercury gear ratios that should answer your questions.

Re: gear ratios

thanks, I didn't see an XR with a 1.36 I assume they exist??
Anyway my underlying question would be... Could some one mate a XZ upper 1.5 to a XR lower that was from a 1.36 and end up with some kind of hybrid or would it turn into a 1.36 or what? I know it would help if I knew what XR lowers were available.

I think I may have a miss matched gear set if that's possible.
I had an XZ 1.5 and put on an XR lower after I blew out the XZ lower and I have some wierd results.

Re: gear ratios

XRs are available in 1.50, 1.35 and 1.26 depending on the lower gear ratio.

Your combination should end up at 1.34 by using the table in the link.

XZ 1.50 will have 32/27 gears in the top
XR 1.35 will have 15/17 gears in the lower

Match those in the table, you will have 1.34 ratio.
