502 timing with crane cam

After lots of research and tuning with the engine, I learned a lot with in area I am not familiar with.

Problem is, I can set my MSD distributer on a stock 502 425HP engine to a set timing of 14 degrees and use the crane cam HI-6 for the timing curve, or use the springs in the msd distributer for the timing curve.

Any plus or minus with either set up? the springs are set up on the distributer now, and get a good curve, but not sure if going with the crane cam box would be benificial to my set up.

Any help with this I would appriciate.

Your using an MSD with working mechanical advance plus a Crane HI-6M that has electronic advance ?

If so, I'd lock-out the MSD and use the Crane box for the advance.

I still don't understand - Do you have one (if so which) or both hooked up right now ?

Re: 502 timing with crane cam

I have both hooked up right now. I set the crane cam to the "zero" setting and allow the distributer to do the adjusting of the timing for the time being so I can get out this weekend. I will need to lock the distributer then set the crane cam box to setting "one" and allow it to adjust my ignition.
