bellhousing bushings
Have the new style bushings .One side is smooth the other side is knurled.what side of the bushing faces down towards the fiber washer on the inner transom plate. I'm thinking the knurled side faces down .

Re: bellhousing bushings
I have the offshore style mounts with 575SCi's.
They also send an extra flatwasher. The instructions say
only to use the flatwasher if necessary to achieve engine
alignment (I forget the exact wording).
I could not get either engine to align unless I installed the
flatwashers. Remember, offshore mounts do not have any
alignment provision (short of re-drilling).
Based on my experience it seems reasonable to conclude
that if you have offshore style mounts, include the flatwashers.
I did that and everything lined up fine (oh, one other hot tip even with offshore mount: keep upward pressure with your
hoist on the engine while you tighten all your fasteners).
It will be interesting to see others experiences with these and offshore mounts.
