maximum safe trim on bravo

Does anyone have the measurement for maximum safe trim from center of trim ram pin to center of trim ram pin that trim limit should be set to on a normal bravo gimbal? I have heard its 21 1/4 but not from reputable source. I want to double check my trim limit adjustment after rebuilding gimbal a month ago to make sure I'm getting as much positive trim as I can get when under power,Smitty

Another thread, http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...it+measurement

You have to watch out for that spacer that is in the hole where the rear pin goes through, (never thought about that).

Also it seems that you want at least 1" of the drive between the gimbal guides at max trim(didn't think about that either)

In any case mine and the others I have adjusted are 21.75" center to center of the pins. (EDIT, make sure half moon spacer is behind rear pin, away from transom on Bravo 1)

You need to check the manual and do some water testing to place the aft trim bushing in the proper position for the boat, its intention is to limit the amount of negitive trim. Very rarely do any of us run at negitive trim but according to the manual some especialy deep V hulls in a turn at speed will roll way high in a quick and dangerous manner.

Scroll down to #4 on the attached page, may keep someone from hurting them selves or someone else!

Right out of the Merc Manual, 21 3/4" trim limit for a bravo set-up...
