3 Attachment(s)
All right, I need some input. While I'm not the smartest person here, I've seen the inside of a few differrent type motor's in my time. But this one stumps me, never seen a chevy head fail this bad.
Was runnin about approx. 4500, 66mph at a lake nearby and she just started barkin, pulled it back and she never ran worse!. Did some trouble shooting and yanked the head tonight........which brings me to my second delemia, I need a head BAD, I have a vacation planned this weekend and am willing to pull a few all nighters :stupid: to make it happen...........made some calls today and not much luck yet. Any info woud be appreciated. 1996 336SR1 HP525SC motors Starboard s/n F615821. |

Whats the block look like?

Re: HP 525 SC blown head
Wow !!! Only seen that on engine's with too much nitrous or not enough fuel - whichever way you want to look at it. Okay, seen it on a few blower motors too. Doh.
That's too bad !!!! You definately want to look for other damage, as Biggus suggested, as well as look for a root cause. |

Since I've found out that Merc thinks their heads are worth their weight in gold doubloon's, and availability is an issue, (cancelled trip, gonna try for next week :evilb: ) I'm looking at aluminum aftermarkets, Any info would be appreciated. |
What did you end up with for heads and did you figure out what caused your problem?
