replacement for Clarion marine stereo (big hole in dash)? Hopefully with XM?
 

I hate my clarion CD player. It's the big oversized marine unit so there's a huge hole in the dash. So I need either a like sized unit, or to make a plate to hold a standard sized unit. I want MP3 CD capability as well as XM radio. Anyone know of a model that will work? I'm tempted to make an adaptor plate and then use an Alpine car headunit ($200) with one of those marine flip down waterproof covers.

You are on the right track. What do you not like about the Clarion? i have had very good luck with their stuff. They did have a run of them with bad lasers were they skipped a lot. That got fixed however.

I have an Alpine unit with XM. Works great.

alpine is the only way to go
