Keeping an EFI fuel pump primed
 

Looking for some input from someone that has been through this.
I have a SX performance fuel pump feeding the fuel rail of my 502 through an Aeromotive inline filter (10 micron) on the high pressure side. On the low pressure side is a 1/2" input/output water fuel seperator (100 micron) through 1/2" line from the tank.
When the boat sits for a few days, I lose my prime to the fuel pump and the boat is hard to start. I know the pump is higher than the bottom of the fuel tank but I can't mount it any lower than it already is.
Is there a low pressure pump that would work in-line between the tank and the input side of the SX pump? Or, is the answer that I have to keep my tank full?

Put a fuel check valve inline. It worked for me. Summit sells them.

ZT260 - I hear ya' but the HP fuel pump manufacturers recommend not putting any restrictions between the pump inlet and then tank. It is a supercharged application. What you say to do makes the most sense but....... between the fuel pump mfg and the SC mfg.....I am paranoid about installing anything between the tank and the pump. I'm sure they are covering their a$$.

You need to check is your fuel pressure before and after you install the check valve. If it's the same your good. I'm running two electric aeromotive fuel pumps in parallel to feed my EFI blower motor. I have a check valve on both pumps. If one quits I’m still ok at anything less than WOT. It works perfect.

An Aeromotive engineer told me to run the pump lower than the pump inlet fuel line and outlet line - kind of like a sink / toilet trap. This keeps some fuel at the pump.
