Where was the corrosion on the intake leak ? I have seen them corrode were the intake mates with the head .... is that where the leak starts ? Thanks ....mike

Re: 502s merc owners

the 502 Magnum MPI was a solid engine. We ran them in APBA E-Class with no problems. The only thing to concern yourself with this engine is the exhaust manifold are very prone to leak inside at the flange and to revert water. Just take the exhaust manifolds off and look up the post and see if the valve stems are eaten away. This happens easy in saltwater. Also check the indies of the exhause manifolds and risers for signs of leaking too.

Re: 502s merc owners

something to consider, there are a LOT of 502's running up and down the lakes, if they were problematic it would be wide spread news. You do not need anyone to contridict what the salesman said ,the lack of negative press is the ultimate proof the 502 is a reasonably strong contender in the boat world.
