I heard they are in the 80's but what do I know , I have a old busted 29 with carb mags and alphas , bennett tabs. That p29 has all the good stuff for sure.

Always Loved That Boat. Sounded Like A Good Package. Dont Take Anybodys Word For The Speed , Go For A Ride And Bring A Gps. Then You Hear The Excuses Why It Went 75. Boats Never Run The Same Speed On Different Days. Usually Plus Or Minus 2 Mph But Not 10. Good Luck Last but not least can you still get parts for a blackhawk and who will repair one ?

As for the outdrives, if the Blackhawks grenaded then some ASDs would be a nice upgrade! |
Re: Scarab P-29 w/ Blackhawk drives and 377 power
A stock P-29 will run 76 -77 mph. that is with a 300 hp 350 mag mpi. It is a no excuse speed. The package ran/runs very well.

Re: Scarab P-29 w/ Blackhawk drives and 377 power
I've read the non P-29 version with Bravo's and the same engines runs only 68mph. Sound right to you?
Is the P-29 lighter layup than the "standard" version? If not, then those Blackhawks are amazingly efficient! I wonder how the single engine version would do with a Blackhawk... :drink: |
Re: Scarab P-29 w/ Blackhawk drives and 377 power
I thought they ran low 80's. You can basically add 7-10 mph on the properly rigged boat over a bravo. If you are shopping for the P-29, then be sure to look into parts for the blackhawk. They are getting a bit hard to find. The name is escaping me, but there was a marine shop on the west coast that was heavily involved with the P-29 project. He barrel rolled one in a high speed attempt.

Almost all of the internals are the same as a Bravo 3. Vertical shaft is much shorter of course and the bearing carrier for the propshafts is different. Propshafts, seals, bearings, gears, etc are all the same part #s as a Bravo 3.
I think props will be the only hard parts to find in the future. |

Stock 29 with 350/300 and Bravos ran 68 in ideal conditions. I wish I had a set of blackhawks.
