Stern Jack help.....

I bought a used Land & Sea stern jack off a late 90's Baja hoping to install it on the 2005 Crownline LPX. both boats have the Bravo 1 drive but my 2005 uses much larger u-joints. so the question is, help me out with what i can do to install the stern jack. my thoughts are too buy the eariler shaft and yoke and have someone make me a yoke or even cut the earlier & newer yoke and weld them back. any thoughts from anyone???? i know the jack works wonders on my hull design so i'm very eager to make it work. and i need a winter project as well...... :D

You should sell the Stern Jack and buy a set of oars! Either way, you won't catch me :D .

Sorry bro, I couldn't resist! Welcome to OSO.

Land and Sea only cares about dynos, but they don't seem to care much about their dyno's. Weird, huh ? :(

Re: Stern Jack help.....

Tryin to remember how the intermediate shaft works in those things...

Does it have its OWN input shaft and yoke?
Can't picture it in my head, but you might could use some "adaptor" U joints with one side bigger than the other.

Will try to get a better mental image so I can help.

Re: Stern Jack help.....

Hey Brett, I just realized you need the yoke that goes into the SJ on the drive side modified. You can buy an earlier model yoke and socket assy for the coupler side. See if you can post some pictures. I'm sure someone on here can come up with a solution. I bet there is an adapter type ujoint that would work. Finding it will be the problem. How about buying a late model stub shaft and having a drive shaft shop cut the end off and weld the SJ end to it. Seems like it would work if done correctly.

Re: Stern Jack help.....

i think that's what i may have to try and do. i plan to pull the drive in the next few weeks and make it a winter project. that might be the only way...... once i have my drive here at the house i can start to measure and start chasing some parts. i may even buy a different drive and sell mine if i have tooooooooo. i know the stern jack works so i'm open to do anything at this point.

Bob, do you know if the splines are different on the end of the driveshaft?

Good afternoon SB. I was wondering if you still have the installation instructions for an Alpha sternjack.

Thank you
