what do you guys think of this sbc build for my chevelle?
 

BobL is doing an engine for my chevelle. 350 bored out .040, forged pistons, arp rod bolts, standard rods, cast crank. sportsman 2 heads, comp cam 280h magnum, edlebrock rpm intake, and probably a 750 holley on top.

i wont spin it past 6,000. what do you guys think of the build? he thinks we will hit 400+hp at 6k.

its going in my 72 chevelle.

Close. I'd say 360-375. That same build was done hundreds or thousands of times about 10 yrs ago when these heads where 'the thing to have' and those Magnum cams where one of the few choices.

Not saying this badly - it's an older (not ancient) tech motor that will run pretty good. It's a good package on a budget.

Ooops - I made a big mistake above. I did not account for compression - stupid me - and since you did not give it I'll turn my answer into a 'I dunno.' :D

they are flat top pistons with 64cc heads. what should that be compression wise?

Anyway - if you end up around 10:1 to 10.5:1 then you will have your 400hp. This is how we ran'm at first, then with a 125shot, and then a 250 shot. :D :D :D :D

Again, it's a good package for the budget. Many still being built today...as is yours.

What I do, or people I know do, are our decisions. If we pay the piper, so be it.

If it would kill you if you busted something right off the batt, no, don't do it.

If you couldn't give a rats azz if it grenaded, then go do it. :evilb:

It's a real close to 10:1 compression. What Jason wanted was a 383 with hydraulic roller, this is what the checkbook wanted.. LOL. I don't think I'd run nitrous on it. The rods are stock 350, just good bolts which is the weakest link. If you want more power you need to build for it now! You break a crank or rod and you'll probably destroy every piece in it. Decide quick, the crank is going in today. :D

if it was for the boat, it would have been the 383 roller :evilb: but its just the chevelle.
