Re: milkshake again
just got done pressure checking the block and heads held 20#s for thirty minutes dont think any gaskets are bad, compression is still good. so i will change the oil 4 more times and try it again. if it milks again we are pulling it and tearing it down and starting over. ran with water in oil less than a 1000ft

Re: milkshake again
From my own experience I know bearings dont take to well to milkshake even for a short bit of time. I feel your pain. Good luck!

Re: milkshake again
Was the intake installed when you tested the block & heads? I had that hapeen to me years ago. At idle, no problem, clear oil, run down river, milkshake. Ended up being a leak at the intake to head connection at the front of the block. I was using FelPro blue intake gaskets that had the metal in them. Switched to Mr Gasket and the problem went away.
Also, as posted above, bearing was trashed very quickly. We tore it down after we got clean oil & Im glad I did. |
Re: milkshake again
yes intake was on, holds 12qts of oil 1qt of lucas, raised the level 1 inch on the stick, going to change it 3 more times and do the same thing take it to the lake and run it and see what happens, we boat in fresh water not salt, ran and sounded good when i put it on the trailer. i will hope for the best.
