Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
I Emailed and asked what pitch and RPM to achive 80MPH as advertised. He told me 25p maybe 23p and spinning it around 4,200 RPM. :D

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
No, mid 70s probably, very light boat, probably 3000lbs. XR eats some power. That carbed motor was 350hp at the prop. He is claiming low-mid 80s with a lot more to go. No chance on that engine. Maybe with a procharger.......

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
I think it's a possibility that it runs in the mid-high 70's. Don't know that hull, but a good 19' with that power could.

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
Also, a 25" prop and a 1.5 drive yields about 60mph at 4200rpm. Need to find out the drive ratio. Should do well over 60 so something is wrong.

Mid 80's at 4200?? right......

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
MAYBE WITH A 200 SHOT OF YEA RIGHT

I'm guessing this boat runs around 68-70 MPH. This hull makes for a fun little hotrod. I have an '88 Baja Sunsport 196 with a trued hull, a 400HP 383, and an Alpha SS spinning a labbed Mirage Plus 25P at 4950 RPM's. With a bow cover on and just me in the boat I see 73.2 MPH on GPS. Previously, with a 550HP high-comp 357, the boat ran 79.1. With an additional 125 HP shot of nitrous, it ran 84! :) But, there wasn't much boat in the water, so it was a little hairy.

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
It's a neat little boat but not an 80mph boat. That magnum is a 365 hp engine, doubt it could turn a 25p prop. It's amazing how people can lie when they're selling something.

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
I agree, maybe mid 70's. It is really clean for the year.

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
simple answer? NO!
|
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
that boat is about 2600lbs my 24ol with my 510 in it is 4000lbs. it should run 72 or so but at 5200rpms with a 25p not 4200  .

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
I think that's a typo. He's runnig a 45p prop. :D
|
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
The 454 mag will turn a 25p Mirage plus. I turn 2 of them . If he can spin it to 5200 he would be about 73 mph with 10% slip...... If he made a typo and has no GPS, that MAY be his speedo reading.
That's a lot of ifs and maybes. |
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
Maybe he means KPH, not MPH
|
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
it would depend on what he's towing it with :evilb:

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
Well, I have to agree with everyone here. I don't even think its an XR.!The rear cap, side stickers and the bell housing stickers are all from different era's. There's rust colored stain on the transom just under the drain plug, so who knows what that is leaking. The drive use to have aluminum top cap, hence the studs and bushings. Holes for the shower tube but no tube. The upper and lower cases are stamped with letters so that means they have been apart before. If you view the 120 pictures he has on it, the stbd wear pad is missing and started to gall up the aluminum on the ring and the drive.
Sorry dude, just my observation. John S. :D |

Quoting ad:
When you hit the throttle in this boat make sure the passengers are holding on otherwise you may eject them from the sheer G-Force. |
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
80 mph speedo reading=likely with current going with them
My guess with that set-up 73-75 gps. Clean boat, but imo, $14-15k a little high, this time of year/economy |

I'm going to give him a call and see if he will come over and wire my trailer this weekend.

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
Pismo the 86 thru 88 was an Alpha and was 330 hp the one pictured is a Bravo and is 365 hp. I just don't see it pushing this boat into the 80's.

Nice boat, I have been on that boat before when it was owned by Wet Vettes dad. It is a clean fast little boat, have fun with it. BTW, Wette Vettes old 210 sport would run 97 and change on gps. |
Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
To be honest i purchased the boat that I have now from this guy and he was totally upfront on everything, also I did run into a few problems with the boat and got him down even more on the price after I got it home. He will stand behind what he says. Ass for the 80 nah not gonna do that, but that might be the speedo reading, That drive doesn't look to be a Xr, I am not trying to help the sale of it but he is for the most part upfront about things..

Re: Do you think this boat on EBAY can do 80MPH?
I doubt very seriously it would do 80 or even 70 and handle worth a damn. The speedo may say 80, that's about it. I have a friend that told me his new Seadoo RXP would do 88 mph, well that's what the speedo said. When gps'd it did 72.4. I would think same thing here. Again I would think it would be a driving machine at whatever speed it runs form past experience with Bajas.
