1994 Baja Bandit Question

A friend of mine is looking at a bandit. He has not seen it yet but it looks like it has a very low gunwale. Does anyone know if stand up bolsters could be put in here or is the gunwale too low?

Thanks

Re: 1994 Baja Bandit Question

it has a 21degree hull to, so not a good ride in the rough, 240 sport/ ol24 would be better and its 24 feet not 22 and 24degree hull

The 240 Sport/Outlaw is a better ride, but the Bandit is a Fast, Fun boat, especially the 91 model, it has a 15 degree bottom. The boat is a good 10 mph faster with the same power.

15°??? I thought the 226ES/240 Sport's had a deeper V than that.

Re: 1994 Baja Bandit Question

the 240 sports are the same as ol24 24degree hull bolt on swim platform 87 to 97, the 226es are 22 ft or 22.6 boats with built in s p to make them 24ft.

Re: 1994 Baja Bandit Question

The 226 has a 20degree bottom, The 240 Sport/ 24Outlaw has a 24 degree bottom. The Bandit bottom was 15degrees in 1991 and went to 20degrees for 1992 and later. The 91 Bandit (15 degree) is a very fast boat, it is the one I would want even though you sacrifice some ride quality.

What the the 226ES get re-names as in the early 90's? 240 something, right?

Yep, there was a Baja 240 for a few years in the mid/late 90's with a built in platform. Sit down boat, low profile and small cockpit with around a 20* deadrise. Not sure if it was a renamed 226es.

+75mph w/ a carbed 454 mag is a fast hull!

Re: 1994 Baja Bandit Question

In the mid 90's they renamed the 226 the 240 (length including platform) it makes it confusing, the true 240(square back) is the 24degree bottom.

My brother has a 91 Bandit w/502 Mag carb, it runs 80 on the speedo.

"+75mph w/ a carbed 454 mag is a fast hull!"

I had the almost the exact same boat(color and power) and it was not a 75mph boat. Fastest I had it was up around 67mph(speedo) and on water with very little chop.

Did run full out next to a guy with a gps speedo. He clocked at 66mph and I still had some more trim for speed, but not 9mph worth.
