The inners & flywheel housings are all the same. As Billy says the newer housings have different rear mounts, they DO NOT use the double spring washer like the older ones. If you use the washers the rear of the engine will be about 1/4 inch too high.

The extra washer is a simple metal washer, fairly thick
but nowhere near 1/4". But what you're going through seems like what I experienced before I added the washer. Not fiber, not lockwasher. If you order the newest rear mounts you'll see, it's in the package. Pesky Varmint |

One other thing we noticed and I forgot to mention.When the motor was bolted down,front and rear,we could rotate the fiber washer.Shouldnt the washer be tight between the ears?
