Trs Swap
I know I read an article a while back about a drive that was made for a direct swap for TRS drives that alleviated the transmissions. Does anyone know what they are and how much and exactly what the swap entails? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Konrads, but they still use a transmission. They have there own built into an ext box or you can use what you have.

Re: Trs Swap
The Most Excellent Konrad needs it's own transom plate and gimbal assembly, the drive is not plug and play using the TRS gimbal and transom plate. If it had been, would have converted before rebuilding existing TRS (18 years old, but no failure using stock power).

To clarify further, the Konrad 540 PRS conversion does infact bolt up directly to a stock TRS transom assembly. The only part that needs to be swapped out is the drive bellhousing. The drawback is that if you go this route, the drive U-joints are several sizes smaller than our standard 540 because of the limited clearance in the TRS transom assembly. We have not sold many of the 1/2 conversions as the entire system (including a new heavy duty transom assembly & trim rams) is priced accordingly that it just makes more sense to install all new components and sell the old TRS parts on ebay and be ahead of the game. Here's a couple pics of the Konrad drive on a TRS transom. |

Notice the size of the U-Joint compared to the TRS

Just like Kurt said, bolts right up to a Merc gimal. Here's a Pantera we did this year.
GREAT drives! |
