Performance Question

I have a 454 gen 4 bored 30 over. I'm replacing my heads and intake. My choices are Edelbrock Perf RPM aluminum oval ports Heads with the oval Edelbrock Per RPM Airgap intake. Or the Dart Iron Eagle Cast Iron Rect. port heads with an rectangular port Edelbrock Perf. RPM Airgap Intake. My question is would I see a noticable difference between the two different setups. Thanks

Re: Performance Question

I changed to the Edelbrock Marine's last year. I made other changes so I don't know how much performance was gained.
I spin mine only 5,300 so Oval's was the choice for me.
Weight savings, bigger valves, and bump compression up.
Good budget heads.
I bought mine from a member on the boards (badpachanga?)
Got them in two days for the same price as Summit Racing.
I was real happy with them :D

Re: Performance Question

If you already own the Edlebrock aluminum heads and want a little more power out of them, then talk to JimV about doing a little port work in the bowl area and exhaust ports. Also, because of the larger valves you're running compared to the bore size of a 454cid engine, then do a "bore notch" job on the cylinder bores. JimV will tell you the bore notch job is usually good for about 30hp or so on a 454. From what I hear, the Edlebrock Air-Gap intake is good intake for an application like yours.

Aw, here we go, with that bore notch thing,,,,,,,,,,,KAAMA and I always have a heated discussion about that. Next he'll probably try to convince you that painting your motors YELLA will give you 5 horsepower,,,,,,,,,
