check this out, tell me what you think?

I took my baja boat to a service place here in FL, guardian mode was kicking in, this was in june 06, got boat back after about 19 days and so far so good, i asked the service manager how much i owe and he told me he was busy and would get back to me, but he also needed to contact my extended warranty company to see if they would help out.. long story short, i called him 4 or 5 times and asked if he had a total, and he still didnt have anything for me but he said he would call me back, so after that i left him alone, well june, july, august goes by, still heard nothing, its now Dec. 26th and i get a bill for $1267 in the mail, whats up with this.. in my opinion its kinda late now, but what do u all think, i know it didnt take this long, my guess is he forgot about it and his end of year totals are catching up with him, any ideas?

Go right on past the service manager and talk to the owner. Describe the initial problem, the dates and times of contact with the service manager concerning the bill and itemized invoice, as well as any information you may have regarding your extended warranty. Work it out with him and let him know how disappointed you are in his service manager's ability to perform to the customer's needs.

I am not sure of the laws in your state but in Ca. there must be a written (or oral) estimate approval prior to work being performed or it is no charge. Did he give you a clue on how much it may be, max amount when you dropped it off for repair?

Does not appear to be a fair business practice to 'hide-the-wennie' until he reconciles his books

I agree with above to ask for a meeting with owner to work out what is fair based on the work performed and material used.

Are you disputing the amount or the time frame to recieve the bill?

They did the work, they should be paid. Would it have made a difference if they gave you that bill right away?

What did they do to the engine? What was broken? Where are the replaced parts? What on the bill of labor? How was the warranty company involved, if at all?

These are all questions you need answers to, and you need a case number or something along with the warranty claim/submission.
