two stage water pump

Hey guys what do you think about a two stage water pump for a procharges 502 mpi motor. Is there any gains in going this route.
Thanks:D

I Have A Procharged 454 With The Hardin Dual Stage Pump. I Bought Mine When I Added New Cyclone Headers Because I Heard Horror Stories About Headers Turning Blue Because Of Lack Of Water Flow. You Will Really Notice How Well This Pump Works When You're Coming Off The Throttle Out Of Boost. The Temps Drop Dramatically. This Pump Is Also Very Easy To Service. Impeller Changes Are A Snap. I Don't Think You'll Regret Buying A Dual Stage Pump But They Are Expensive. $750.00 For The Hardin.

as stated above they are nice units, typacly used in conjunction with larger tubed exhaust, bigger engine oil cooler, or the addition of an intercooler. the only draw back is having to much water pressure which will hurt the head gaskets, or possibly intake water passage, providing you dont have an external water dump besides the exhaust.

usually you would use 1 stage for cooling the engine itself, and maybe the oilcooler. and the 2nd stage for oil cooler and intercooler, or intercooler and exhaust.

good luck

Re: two stage water pump

I just got a set of KE Two stage waterpumps.
These pumps are top knotch.

I have run up to 1100 hp with stock Mercury single stage pumps.

I would to go as far and say that anything under 1000
Hp Multy stages are not really needed.

In intercooled applications I run a second tap off the
seastrainer with a check valve which flows no water
at idle and produces flow at speed.

Water pickup and locations also play a role as
in a Bravo drive compared to a seperate pickup
found on SSM6 or Arneson boats.

i agree as far as the mercury using a single ,, how ever the second bung idea allows for heat to build on the induction side as well taping off is ok however for a boat that doesnt run and then go on a trailer it is not as user friendly, winterizing, flushing and such. they also tend to clog quicker and you dont notice as easily as a pressurized sytem.

again if merc dont use it then wh yhave it, sometimes the student can teach the teacher.

lol
