Flame Arrestor Labeling

I just bought a K&N flame arrestor and it has nothing on it to indicate it is coast guard approved. i looked it up online and it is the correct part number. The box says "Marine Approved Flame Arrestor" but what good is that going to do me if i get checked. I've been told all flame arrestors must be labeled? True?

Check the outside lip of the top of the flame arrestor. Should be some USCG #'s there.

Though off the topic a bit, been out in the gulf (fl) 5 times in the last two weeks and they (marine police, fish and game) keep pulling me over and checking everything. Its getting annoying. Onlly thing they got me on was a inch short fish (In NY any size of the species is legal). They checked everything. THey claim and stated "Offshore speed boats should not be out 5 miles offshore and something fishy on this vessal". Im new to area so I guess expected? Yes they also checked flame arrester twice, though not a k&N...

My K&N had a "marine" stamp on the SS lip and the element had the SAE number stamped into it.
