Re: bbc heads for blowers
Depends on the cam and amount of boost. You can run aluminum heads, AFR, for one, coats the water jacket to resist salt water corrosion. I think their are other Alum. head makers that also coat them. I ran 2 sets of AFR's on 540's with whipples, alittle farther down the bay on the Potomac, Patuxent, and in the bay. The motors had over 200 hrs on them, and no problems. These were the uncoated heads. They also spent one winter in the Fla Keys, in salt water. The extra protection of Alum. heads on a blower motor is worth it. Good luck. Im sure some of the engine builders will chime in with recomendations. But the fact that you run in salt water shouldnt deter you from using Alum. heads if you want too:D

Re: bbc heads for blowers
I can tell you what NOT to buy,the merlin vrs are set up nice with inconel valves and ok springs but they offer very little performance gain over 088 rectangle ports,Smitty

Re: bbc heads for blowers
You will be much better off with aluminum heads, don't worry the AFR Heads will be alright with the coating.

Re: bbc heads for blowers
Dart Iron Eagle heads are some of the best cast iron heads you can by.

Re: bbc heads for blowers
Jim V can port a set of Iron Eagles like you wouldn't believe. They flow as good or better than any conventional aftermarket head.

Re: bbc heads for blowers
We have built multiple sets of Dart Iron Eagle heads. If You absolutely we want cast iron heads the Dart is the only way to go! PM me if you have any questions, I can lead you in the correct direction the first time around.
