Re: lightning headers
I installed a set on a jet boat I had a few years ago. Mine were not the full stainless steel so I made sure I drained them after every use. They were great. They fit perfectly but with no mufflers it was very luod which is the way I ran it most of the time anyway.
I dont think you would be dissapointed but nowadays mufflers would be a must. Jerry. |

They were on a boat that I owned from 03 to 05. They were great (stainless) and are still working fine now for the current owner. I would recommend them....and they are LOUD!!!:D See picture below.

Re: lightning headers
I've installed several sets. They fit great and have held up fine, in fresh water. I've had a set for 5 years and they show no signs of rust. They are the standard header with non stainless outer tubes.

We've put the stainless units on many boats, including our own.
4 years on these with no sign of trouble. |

Re: lightning headers
I want to install these on 572 tall decks .Are they narrow enough . Its a very tight fit. Currently run merc exhaust and they touch 100% between the 2 motors.

Re: lightning headers
What heads and what are the engine centers?
|
Re: lightning headers
34 in crank center and big brodix heads. Fountain 38 ft 1989
|
Re: lightning headers
These will fit no problem on your Fountain. They my touch the hatch though. Is this a TRS or SSM 3 boat?
|
Re: lightning headers
The pics above are on a 1990 8.8m Fountain, it's got the same centers as yours.
|
Re: lightning headers
#4 speedmasters . I also have the big blower hatch .Are the motors in the picture tall decks and are these stock lightning headers,?
|
Re: lightning headers
Yep, tall decks. The headers are the Stainless Steel version. A bit more money but well worth it. We run mostly in fresh but do get down into the SF Bay in salt water. I would go with the SS regardless, they will last longer. I fush and drain after every use, regardless of the water salt content.

Re: lightning headers
got 'em too. purchased used and still holding up fine.

Re: lightning headers
I've got a couple sets of my old Scarab, 6 years old now, stainless inner and outer, no problems at all.
