Billet flywheel ?

I've got a good deal on a Hays billet steel flywheel 11" 168t for BBC internal balance. In the notes for the flywheel it states it will not fit 400 and 454 bbc. i have a 509 build that i am doing. Does this concern me and the bellhousings used for marine ?? Should i be concerned? Part number hays-10-130. thanks, Dave

I used Hays 10-430 on a Gen 6 502. Steel, SFI, External, 168t.on my Gen6; fits Gen5&6.

Thinking this is Internal Balance (and not for Externally balanced BBC's) and won't work for you.

MkIV BBC is 10-235

What Gen 502 is this?

Re: Billet flywheel ?

1) 400 and 454 are externally balanced. Dont know if your engine is internally or externally ballanced.
2) No difference in marine vas non-marine flywheels unless you have a top mounted starter.
3) The coupler or drive plate are a lot more prone to damage than the flywheel, so why bother with billet?
My $0.02

Re: Billet flywheel ?

I'm using a Dart Big M block and my crankshaft is for internal balance.

Re: Billet flywheel ?

Only reason i am using a billet is because a got a good deal on the flywheel.

I have a Dart Big "M" block. I used a billet internal wheel, no problems at all.
