Difference between X and XR Bravo

Can anyone help me on this. How much more power can the XR handle. My mate just dusted his drive and he is looking a Bravo X for a pro charged 502???? Hmmmm. Sounds like some more broken merc parts for sale soon. Jas

Re: Difference between X and XR Bravo

an "X" is/was an "XZ" upper half and a standard bravo DWP lower.

Re: Difference between X and XR Bravo

Donzi,
That is a very general question. How much an XR can handle depends on a lot of things. Boat weight, driving habits, prop, etc. I have one customer that runs a 27' Baja with 1000hp, Procharged motor with an old style Bravo 1 and it ran all summer. He is very gentle with it and it has lived.
Another customer has an H2x with 1400hp and is running a specially setup XR and he made at least 15 hard passes on it this past summer. I tore it down and it looks very good inside.
It depends on setup and how it is used.. Tell us more about your mate's boat and how he drives it.. that would help.
