Question about new bearings

Question:
If you have a good engine that has no ticks, knocks, holds 40lbs oil pressure at idle when first started, 15 lbs after a hard run. Is it ok to replace the old bearings with new bearings and not have the crank polished or ground, when you have it pulled to replace gaskets due to oil leaks??
just curious

Re: Question about new bearings

If the crank measures within spec, and has no damage to it, you don't have to touch it. Measure, get your clearance right, and put it together.

Re: Question about new bearings

My 502 did exactly what you are describing at about 500hours. I freshened it with new rings, bearings, oil pump, and did a valve job.
She has been running great with another 140hours so far.
Make sure that you also replace the cam bearings.
