Looking for flywheels

I am posting this for a friend.

He is looking for a pair of MK IV flywheels
for a 72C setup ( starter mounted to bellhousing,
backward)
engines are 540's.

PM me your #, I'll have him get in touch.

I believe that the flywheel will be the same for either type of bell housing. so what you need is a gen 4 BBC flywheel.

The starter may call for a different number of teeth on the ring gear however depending on application.

jt,

You will probably need more information than this to get the correct flywheels. Depending on who built the engines, and what parts were used, they may be internally or externally balanced. Unless you have one of the flywheels that were originally used with the engines, you might have a hard time knowing which to get :( One clue might be in the harmonic dam[ers, if they are counterweighted or not.

First, you will need to know if the motor is internally balanced or not.If it is externally balanced, you will need to know the amount of counterweight the flywheel needs.
Next, the flywheel needs to have the ring gear on the back side of the flywheel, instead of the front side like it would be on a motor with the starter in the standard location. I don't think anyone sells a flywheel that is cut for a rear mount starter. When I build a motor set up this way, I buy a cast iron flywheel from Pioneer and put it in the lathe and cut it down to accept the ring gear.
If you find a flywheel with the right balance that you need, any machine shop with a lathe that can swing 14" can cut it for you. Let me know if I can help you any further.
