7.4L MPI To 502 Fuel Question

Will the stock 7.4L MPI electric fuel pump and cooler work on 502 carb motor? Both are Gen VI's. Thanks in advance.

No, but I'll buy it off you.

I was affraid of that......does it not supply enough fuel pressure?

Lofty 02-26-2007 12:35 PM

Too much. You can put in a regulator to fix the problem.

The problem with the 7.4mpi fuel pump/cooler set up is that it's almost imposable to service with the engine in the boat since it's behind and underneath the Port engine mount. Why not put a standard belt driven pump in?

thanks for the help, is there any particular brand that I should go with in conjuction with the stock pump? I am guessing I nned something that will keep it around 7ish.

Aermotive makes a nice unit.

I don't think there is a regulator available for the Cool-Fuel system that will take it down to the 7-8 psi you typically need for a carbed engine. Best bet is an electric fuel pump/regulator designed for use with a carb. You may want to install an oil pressure safety switch as well.

I was just trying to use what I had and keep most of the original routing and didn't want to spend the extra $$ if it wasn't necessary. That money could be spent else where on the boat. I appreciate the input......keep it coming!
