I've got merc 500 bulldogs in my boat and I'm installing oil temp gauges while I redo my dash. They have the stock Merc oil thermostat set up.
Does anyone know where the temp senders are mounted and what size thread I would need. There is a choice between 1/8,1/4, and 3/8 sizes.
Thanks

When I put oil temp gauges in my old boat w/HP500's,
the engines already had the senders installed from Merc.,
all I had to do was find the proper colored wire at the dash,
and connect it to the gauge, I would bet the Bulldogs are
already equipt with sensors also.
The sensor was right above the oil filter pad on the
HP500's, but I"m thinking they're mounted in front of the
oil filter pad, on the pan rail on the Bulldogs.
As I recall the senders we're 1/8" pipe, but the block was
1/4" pipe, so an adapter was used.
