454 Mag Massage or Not??
 

Well I'm considering upgrading the power in my 26 which currently has a stock 454 Mag EFI. With 400 hrs she still runs very strong. Question is should I simply have this one freshened up and massaged a little to get me to the 410 to 425 hp mark or should I consider swapping out with a 502 mag or 496 HO??? Whats your thoughts???

I would there are so many things you can do to that engine and still have reliable power.

Tyler Crockett. He knows what will work. FYI I just took my 454 MPIs apart & they look new inside @ 415 hours. I can still see the cross hash marks in the cylinder walls.

A 454Mag is a great candidate for upgrade. A cam change, good exhaust, and ECU recal can get you to 425HP no problem.
I believe there are proven packages that will boost your engine 100HP and still be vary reliable.
Tyler Crockett would be a vary good choice.
