New Boating Season - Fuel Question

Just wondering what you OSOers thought about this Ethanol blended fuel in our tanks over the winter. Even if the fuel was stabilized as usual - do you think it is worth using or should it be drained and start fresh. I purposely left my tank fairly empty for winter but still put stablize in it. I am running 500EFI's. Thanks. Ted.

Ted you did the right thing.. What you should do is top it off with fresh fuel & use an additive like startron in it ;) Jamie / Lakeside

Thanks Jamie,

At the cost of fuel I figured I would have a lot of lawn mower fuel laying around. Ted.

I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't screw up my fuel injectors with some gummy fuel - Still don't know the real story on this blended fuel & boats. Thanks Again. Can't wait for steady warm weather!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW - Where can I get stratron?

You should have an aluminum tank. So they are not affected by that fuel. the fiberglass tanks were. The only thing that would be affected in your tank is any sludge that may have been in there. The ethanol fuel has a tendancy to loosen that stuff. Although if you kept fuel moving thru your tank then it should not be an issue.

The startron works as a mild stabilizer & cleaner, It also has enzymes in it the help to lessen the effects of the ethanol on other components like rubber fuel lines etc... Your local marina may have startron, if they do not feel free to call me I use it in my stuff & I keep it in stock.. :) Jamie / Lakeside 570-639-2628
