Stainless Marine or Dana Flow Torque???
 

Boat noobie here,

Looking to purchase this week. basically same price for both. i believe the stainless marine setup comes with all the brackets needed for my 502MPI, Dana comes with most except i may have to send in my oil bracket to them to get it modified to fit.
i have purchased alot of accessories from Dana and they do a great job.

I think I can help you make a decision. I was considering the same two choices and had decided the Dana Marine Flow Torque and Vortex V riser was the way for me to go. I think they will make more power in a naturally aspirated setup than the Stainless Marine. The Stainless Gen III High torque is probably capable of making more power (like 1400hp!) in a supercharged setup with dry tailpipes, but the price for that would end up being well over a thousand dollars more than the Dana Flow Torque manifolds and Vortex V riser/tailpipe (which can handle up to 1200hp).
Here's the bad news:
I called Dana on Tuesday of this week and Bob informed me that these manifolds have become so popular recently that they are all sold out and it will be like 45 days before they get any more! Apparently, they are being cast at the foundary now but it would take that amount of time to machine, polish etc. and produce a finished product. The Vortex S/S tailpipes are made in house at Dana so they take less time (like three to four weeks) but obviously they ain't no good without the manifolds! It's a real Bummer man, cause I think these things are by far the best bang for the buck for most setups and, for a couple of hundred bucks extra, you can a set of O2 sensor spacers that sandwich between the manifolds and risers. ANd they're much prettier than the Gen IIIs.
What did I do? Well, since I got one pipe on my Lightning headers pissin' salt water into my bilge, I did the next best thing - I ordered a set of Stainless Marine Gen III manifolds and risers and a good friend of mine has a set of dry taipipes which will work on those, so hopefully I'll be good to go next week.
Moral of the story: Life is full of compromise.
In any event, I figure my motor will love those big ol' Gen III ports when I bolt that M-3 procharger back on the sucker anyways!
If you were thinking about the regular Stainless Marine Hi-Torque (non - Gen III) then there is no comparison in terms of power production compared to the Danas. If you can wait I say give Dana a call and put in an order now - The best feature of the Danas in my view is that they can tune the system by using different risers to suit just about any size or output motor.

You'll get a lot of opinions. Nothing wrong with either system.

My personal preferance would be Stainless Marine. But that's what it is, personal preferance. ;)

Give Fred a call at Trick Marine. Great guy to deal with. I just got a set of Eddie Marine Thunder's.I thinks he can get S.S. marine also.

I installed SM on my '99 502 MPI's last spring. Had to modify the large front remote oil filter mounting plate and modify the drive bottle bracket to fit. Mine was far from a simple bolt on change over.

That would be a no brainer for me. Stainless marine.

Put (2)pair of the Stainless Marine manifolds on my stock '96 502 MPI's last year. They came complete with all the brackets, and no issues with mounting any components. No modifications to drive bottle, etc was required. Only pain was getting the old stock manifolds off.

Bought the manifolds thru Fred at Trick Marine. Good price, and service for a quality product that shipped on-time as promised.

I would not hesitate to buy them again for another application.
