I use the NAPA GOLD 1794 on my 500EFI, it's the Wix made version of the GM two quart truck filter, will fit any spin-on Chev V8 with adequate clearence, also use it on my GMC 1 ton dually. For additional monitoring of your lube system, you can " sandwhich " a stainless steel pre-filter screen made by MOROSO, part # 23845, between the block and the top of the filter. It's a fine mesh, non restrictive screen that filters down to 280 microns, alerts you to impending problems, without the mess of cutting filters open, simply spray clean with carb or brake cleaner, blow dry, and reuse.
