MPI to Carb Wiring Harness

When converting from MPI to Carb, is there a special wiring harness that I can buy that includes the alarms and everything I need except the efi wiring or should I just start pulling the original harness apart? Does anybody have any good diagrams for a 7.4 MPI harness? Most of the ones I have searched for and found were to small to read.

Probably the easiest thing to do is to get rid of the efi harness and replace it with a carb harness. If you buy one from Merc., it will be expensive. CP Performance sells a universal harness with 6 feet of unterminated wire that you hook up yourself. Its really not that hard. Any older Merc. service manual will have a schematic in the back for a carb motor. Almost all of the older engines were wired exactly the same.
You can use the efi harness and just leave most of it disconnected. The crank harness portion is the same.
Hope that helps. Eddie

Thanks young, just thought I would ask here on OSO to save myself some headache. I saw somewhere that Tyler crocket and some others make custom harnesses, just trying to figure out the easiest way to go and learn from others mistakes.

Tyler, I am looking for one that has the alarm/buzzer provisions in the harness so this conversion will be as much "plug and play" as possible. Most of the the ones I see, like the one CP sells is just a generic one size fits all harness. Any suggestions?
