Don't know about about the composite gear, have always used the bronze. Anyway, the thunderbolt distributor has a .491 shaft, same as a GM distributor. Most, if not all, of the aftermarket distributors use a
.500 shaft. Eddie

Thanks. How often do you change your bronze?

I change them every year, at the beginning on the season. It is cheap insurance.

Being that the bronze gears are a wear item that often need replaced, Crane says 2K street miles and once per season in marine. I would not want that bronze in my oil so the $100 Comp gear seems a bargain.
