Mounting A/C unit

Well, here's the scenario. I'm installing A/C in my Velocity 280. I'ts a Mermaid air 6500 reverse cycle. Here's what I'm concerned about. I have a great spot to mount it which is in a compartment under the V-berth. My concern is, would mounting it that far forward cause too much of a beating on the unit. Or am I being too precautious? I would imagine these unit's are designed to take some abuse.

I could mount it in my storage unit just inside the cabin door (which is more toward the center of the boat), but it would take up a good bit of my storage space, and make draining the condensate a pain.

Thanks,
Frank

Here is where I'm talking about. My return air duct will be right below the Velocity logo (in the grey carpet).

A friend mounted his up there in his 32 Baja. No problems that we are aware of.

The condensation drain concern can be eleminated by using the Condensator. But that's another $150 item.
I went that route and it works great.

How do you like that condensator? Does it make much noise? I would guess that you would hear a vaccum sound all the time.

I looks to be the ticket for those that can't drain it overboard do to elevation or didn't want to simply drain it in the bilge. I hate water in the boat. I haven't had the boat in the water yet, but did test run the AC for 10 min using buckets of water. The condensator makes zero noise. I also thought it would have a sucking sound, but nope! While test running, I poured water into the catch pan. The Condensator sucked it up as fast as I could pour it in.
