Who Makes Headers For New "ls" S/b ??
Are there headers available for the "LS" style S/B like "CMI" or "Lightning" ?? If not is the port spacing close enough that one could make an addaptor to mate them up ?? CHEERS AW

CMI makes small block headers!! Give us a call for and we can discuss you application and the style header that is best suited for your application!!!

I have yet to see anybody actually advertise in the US since it seems not too many builders are using the LS motors, even though GM lists a "VORTEC 6000".
Down in Australia they've been running the LS for years in boats and somebody actually had an ad on here for neat looking stainless pieces for just about every V8 engine including the LS. Raylar has been talking about the new LS-7 derived engine so they might know something. What are you going to put it in? |
I was contemplating a new LS1 for my boat over the winter to complement the one in my SS. They are awesome motors with superior headflow and rpm ability vs the standard SBC. Further looking into exhaust choice I found nothing off the shelf. It was going to be custom. The project fizzled out as I had alot of new SBC parts in the shop.

handfulz28, Where do you think that Austrailian site might be ? I'm thinking that I'll make an adaptor with a plate against the head, one or two inch tubes and then another plate to mate up to a big block/cmi type header that I could try to buy used . I have plenty of room since this would be in the dance hall sized engine compartment of my 26' Nova. I was going to go nuts with an all aluminum World or Dart block and all the best internals and Heads and intake . I would be lucky to get close to 500HP out of a motor on the edge. Why go thru all that when a stock LS 7 is 500HP and i'm sure with a little nudge could be close to 600HP. And it weighs 450lbs from the factory!

I've been waiting to see someone start using the LS engines in a boat. Saw Raylars web page, but no more info since.
It is a great motor. Back in 1992 I built a pretty tricked out 350 old style SBC for my Firebird. Was lucky to get 400hp and still keep it reasonably streetable. Now a new ZO6 has 500hp FROM THE FACTORY!!! and it's lighter! I know GM's got some low boost SC LS's running around with around 650hp. Ligenfelter sells a twin turbo with 800hp and a 3yr warranty. Even detuned a little for durabilty in a boat that's still one heck of a package. For the amount we spend on boat motors, I've thought it'd be really trick to put two Lingenfelter twin turbo LS's in something around 32ft. 1400HP and 800lbs less weight than two BBC!!! Certainly be something no one else on the lake would have! |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=003 I'll look around to see if his OSO ad is around somewhere. |
her ya go
http://www.hitekmarine.com.au/ Fountain also made a boat with a couple of staggered ls engines and it had long tube headers.... I have a photo somewhere I'll see if I can find it. |
LS headers
We are still getting our new LSM550 ready for a boat. We will be off the dyno here in couple of more weeks of testing & tweaking. We do have our polished stainless four tube headers done and we have an extra set in stock if anybody needs them now. They are $4200 a set with tips.
Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
To make adapters to use big block headers should be pretty easy, at the right machine shop. I looked at that for mine, but I didn't have room, with twins.
