Trim Cyl Rebuild

Anyone have the part number for the trim cylinder rebuild kit on a 1999 Bravo? Anyone done this repair?

I have rebuilt a lot of other types of cylinders (Hyd and Pnuematic) in the past and assume all the same principles apply. It appears to be pretty easy. But as with boat parts, are there any special tips/tricks I need to be aware of?

Thanks for the help, guys...

I just bought a set that a guy took a part to powder coat and he never re-assembled them, looks pretty straight forward. The only thing I had to buy was special pin style spanner wrench to install the caps.

czy40p,

Thanks for the feedback. I assumed it would be pretty straight forward. If I need, I can borrow the tool from a mechanic friend of mine or make one. Should be a no-brainer.

Anyone have the correct part numer for the rebuild kit? I looked at BAM's site, they have them listed; but I want to make sure to get the right one. Guess I'l just drop by the marina, see if they have one in stock.

It is very straight forward,I did a pair last year and the instructions came with the kit.As far as the spanner wrench I used a large plier and they came right off.

Thye only problem you may have is the retaining cap. It can be a tight s.o.b. You can break it loose with a flat punch and hammer. Check the ends of the retaing caps for corrosion. If they look questionable replace them. Often they corrode and the snap ring does not seat.

Thanks cig,

I thought I had the correct spanner wrench, but I was mistaken. I don't want to damage the end cap/gland, so I will swing by the marina and use the correct tool. Should be all good after that.

I am going to totally rebuild even though it appears to just be the end cap o-ring. Better safe than sorry!
