oil temp climing
 
Can anyone tell me what to check , as to why my oil temp is going up to 230 when my port motor stays at 160 ? the motors are all rebuilt and all coolers cleaned and all oil hoses flushed, The motor temp is at 150.

Did you spin a bearing? I learned the hard way thinking I could clean a cooler:(

I don't thing so I only have 10 minutes on them at 2500rpm. I was told it could be the t-stat for the oil system located in that square block that the filter screws on to.???????????

I ment Did you spin a bearing on the original engine?

230 degrees for oil is about perfect. I would question the one at 160 degrees.

ALso at 160 I would check to make sure you do not have the oil lines reversed. I have seen that done, no oil flowing through the filter and the temp sensor was on the filter pad.

Where are the sensors for the oil temp located?

i had same problem. it was where the water intake comes thru the transom. ( bravo drives)
the fitting collapses.

What year are your engines and who plumbed the oiling system? Sounds like it could be the oil thermostat in the oil remote. Easy fix, just need the new t-stat, an o-ring.

150/160 is too cold. I like the 230 side better.

if the intake hose was collapsed the motor would be over heating also.

!big jim I got into a lot of seaweed and over heated the motor and stuck a piston, did not spin a bearing. the sensor for oil temp is on the block where a oil filter would screw on.

John changed the t-stat and o-ring problem gone. Another good job from a fellow boater.
