exhaust steam
Took the boat out for the first time yesterday. I have excessive steam coming from the starboard exhaust. The temp never got over 175 and I just replaced the impeller and housing any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks.

Was your old impeller all in one piece? If it wasn't you may have some debris down stream causing a clog.

Pull the plugs on starboard side.Do they look steam cleaned?
If they do pull the coil wire and crank engine to see if any moisture comes out the cylinders. |
I've experienced that before especially early in the season when the water temperature is cold, and it's always more pronounced on the starboard side! Not to worry, summers coming! Steve

The water is cold yes but motors are exspensive at leaqst check for reversion as the other guys stated.....Our summers are too short for engine pulling, believe me i pulled mine 5 times last year.....3 of the times were due to reversion resons....

my 500 hps do the same thing in the spring from cold water temps, it is normal. |
Cold water would not make more steam.Though cold air could make it appear there is more steam as the water vapor condenses faster.

I talked to one of my mechanic buddy's he said the same thing it is problably ok. but I will check the plugs just to be safe it was about 50 degrees that day and rainy and cloudy and the water temp prob wasn't any warmer. Thanks for the help.
