Leaking Silent Choice

One of the Silent Choice diverters leaks where the shaft comes out of the diverter. Anyone experienced this and knows what to do about it? It is leaking on the actuator side.
Thanks

If it is I had that, that was one of a bunch of probs I had......eventually replaced it with Corsa electric......MUCH happier.

The only thing I have ever done with Mercury Silent Choice is pull them out, disassemble it, polish the shaft and install a new seal. Make sure you use a little dab of blue locktite on the flapper bolts.

Is the seal a " standard component" that can be bought somewhere?

Thanks

I had that happen with mine. I called CMI and got a rebuild kit with new seals for pretty cheap. (I have a 525 with the CMI exhaust) Just call Merc.

How long b-4 these things begin to leak??? I just installed a set of Corsa's.

I dont know about the Corsas, but it took 6 years and 600 hours for my mercs to start leaking. I have ordered the rebuild kit now. Thanks for the help.

mats,

Do you have a part number? I have one doing the same thing. Also, is it just a standard lip seal I can pick up somewhere?

I called the spare parts department at Mercury, so I dont know the part numbers. But for each diverter there was two types of seals for each side of the diverter in all four seals per diverter

Corsa diverter for merc 496, actuator is leaking water at the shaft. I know this thread is extremely old but anyone make any progress with repairing? Thanks.

I know this is a very old thread... but I am trying to rebuild one. Previous owner has installed the seals in different combinations. How is it supposed to be... bushing and then seal, or seal, bushing, seal on each end of the shaft?
