Merc 383 stroker
Need opinions on the new merc 383 MPI stroker as a replacement for a 5.7 mag.
Thanks |
I know there were some 383 quicksilver remans out there at a decent price. I didn't opt for that due to the fact that there were no extended warranty offered on them. If I was gonna drop that kind of loot I'd want to be able to get the 5 years.

You can get 3 years additional factory extended warranty with them. Our customers are reporting better performance than the 7.4 and better fuel economy

I have a pair of built 383's, not Mercs, and I really like them. I picked up a solid 10-11 MPH over my 6.2's, and the bottom end torque is just nuts. I am putting Stainless marine exhaust on this month, and re-dynoing, but I couldn't be happier with the 383's. They are torque monsters.

Good Stuff
I just bought one with a Bravo package and transom assembly to put in my Donzi X-18 project boat I am doing for my wife.
Larry at my marina has installed a few and has nothing but good things to say. The price is right on some of them. I am liking the idea of a 70+mph turn key boat. |

Who did you get your 383 package from? Thank you Jim |
I had CHS racing here in Austin build them. Awesome job.
