PLEASE! Need 350 sbc help asap.
I need felpro head and intake gaskets part#s and rod and main bearing torque specs. Also the part # for a replacement piston is 735-850097 from mercruiser for $180!!! Can anyone cross this piston # for me? That is crazy money! This is my brothers boat and if we don't get it back together Him and his kids will be on my boat Memorial day! Puleeeze help me out!
P.S. the engine serial # is ok171493 |
ken,
1. Look on the inside of the piston and see if there is a GM part number. Or take it to your local machine shop and they should be able to look at it and get you a piston. Probably less than $20 unless it is forged and even that should not be more than $60. 2. Same with the Fel Pro head gasket number, it is in the Fel Pro marine catalog. I have one at the shop but not at home, your machine shop should have one and be able to get you the gasket. These parts should be available to your machine shop in one day, they will have to press the piston off and back on for you anyway. 3. Rod torque ? Most are 45 lb ft but I would check the service manual to be sure. Mains are probably 75 ft lbs, but some of the newer models use a torque plus angle method so you really need the service manual to be sure. Bill Koustenis Advanced Automotive Machine Waldorf Md |
I think that the good fel pro headgasket number is 1010.

Be sure that the new piston has the same weight as the original and use Victor gaskets, you will be glad you did. Any NAPA store can get them for you in the marine version, which is what all the OEMs' use
